ROXAS CITY, Capiz – An employee of the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) here was found guilty of theft.
In a six-page decision penned by Judge Bonifacia Carmen Chuchi Ramos of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities Branch, PAO administrative assistant Emmanuel Gonzales was sentenced to two months of imprisonment or arresto mayor.
Gonzales was charged for stealing the clutch handle of a Suzuki motorcycle in the custody of the City Prosecutor’s Office that was parked at the Roxas City Hall of Justice
The theft happened May 24, 2018 and was witnessed by security guards. The guards later recovered the clutch handle from Gonzales.
In his defense, Gonzales said the clutch handle was part of the garbage he picked up from the lobby of the hall of justice.
He said he did not exactly remember that he placed the clutch handle in his pocket.
But the court did not buy Gonzales’ defense.
