BACOLOD City – Police initially reported that P9 million worth of jewelries and cash were stolen from a shopping mall in Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
According to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), the owner of a kiosk that was robbed inside the mall declared the value of stolen items.
But Police Captain Judesses Catalogo, public information officer of Nocppo, said an inventory of the stolen items is still ongoing.
Based on initial investigation, three unidentified persons forcibly entered the mall by making a hole in the wall of the grocery area located beside a vacant lot.
The suspects allegedly cut the roll-up door connecting to the grocery store through the tenant kiosk area and looked for the vault.
When they sighted the vault, they brought it near the restroom and forcibly opened it, allegedly stealing the said items.
Police recovered from the scene a pair of construction gloves, a bonnet, and a blue long sleeves shirt.
Catalogo said that police are still investigating to identify the perpetrators behind the robbery incident.
