P9.6-M market in Bacolod barangay completed

BACOLOD City – Residents of Barangay Pahanocoy here will no longer have to travel far as they now have their own mini-market.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) turned over the two-storey market building to barangay officials on Wednesday, April 26.

The P9.6-million building was funded by the national government and was materialized through the effort of Bacolod lone district Rep. Greg Gasataya.

Barangay Captain Yolanda Noble said the area used to be their temporary old market until it went non-operational.

Since she assumed her post in 2018, Noble said that most of their vendors displayed their products along the roads, including those who were selling fish and meat.

With the said development, Noble said that it would be convenient for the residents to buy commodities since they no longer have to travel to the adjacent village.

Noble said the building will have wet and dry sections, stalls, and a food court on the upper floor.

Meanwhile, Gasataya is hoping that this building will give an opportunity to more vendors and will provide a clean and bigger space for them to sell their products.
