BACOLOD City – Police seized 12 grams of suspected shabu worth P81,600, some loose firearms, and ammunition from the house of an alleged drug personality AT Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City, Negros Occidental last Monday.
Police executed a search warrant against Jojit Fernandez, 47, for alleged violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law.
But Fernandez escaped upon sensing the presence of policemen around his house, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Indiape Jr., city police chief.
Indiape said Fernandez sneaked out using a secret passage, which police failed to notice.
Aside from illegal drugs, police also recovered from the suspect’s house a .45-caliber pistol, a homemade .38-caliber revolver, a .22-caliber revolver, three magazines and 19 ammunitions for .45-caliber pistol, 10 ammunition for .22-caliber revolver, two ammunitions for .38-caliber revolver, a tooter, seven lighters, a pair of scissors, and an improvised straw scooper.
Indiape said they raided Fernandez’s house since he is on the priority target list for illegal drugs and they received information that he also possessed loose firearms.
“May kabudlayan na abi sudlon iya balay kay kung may magbakal sa iya, sa gate lang ginaduhol, that’s why nag apply kami search warrant,” Indiape said.
Indiape also said that Fernandez’s name is also floating as an alleged distributor of illegal drugs in the city.
