BACOLOD City – A curfew violator was arrested after he allegedly yielded illegal drugs when he evaded a checkpoint in Barangay 12 here last Thursday.
Police identified the suspect as Aris Mapa, 23.
Police Major Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 1, said that Mapa did not stop when flagged down by police officers in a checkpoint around 2:05 a.m. Instead, Mapa fled prompting the authorities to chase him.
Mapa was cornered by police when he fell from his motorcycle, Sarona said.
Police recovered from him P27,200 worth of suspected shabu, suspected dried marijuana leaves, and drug paraphernalia.
Sarona said Mapa told the police that he allegedly bought the contraband in one of the barangays here and was on his way home when he passed by a checkpoint.
