P800,000 worth of property lost to Pontevedra fire

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – An estimated P800,000 worth of properties went up in smoke after a fire hit a commercial establishment Sunday evening on Isagani Street, Barangay Poblacion Ilawod in Pontevedra Capiz.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Pontevedra, JR Marketing owned by Juno Tan was totally burned.

No one was hurt in the conflagration that started 10:58 pm Sunday and was quelled past 2 am Monday.

Reports said firefighters had a hard time quelling the fire as the water coming from their fire hoses were being blown away by strong winds due to typhoon Quinta.

Observers said that the fire easily spread because of the combustible items being sold by the owner.

The establishment sold appliances on the first floor, plastic wares on the second floor, and clothing on the third floor.

Meanwhile, some P15,000 worth of properties was lost when a ready-to-wear store at Barangay Poblacion Tabuc, Mambusao, Capiz was razed by a fire early Tuesday morning.

The establishment was owned by Mae Lacson.

Based on the investigation of BFP-Mambusao, they learned about the fire from a concerned citizen.

The responding firemen immediately put off the fire which might be electrical in origin.
