BACOLOD City – The City Government of Sagay in Negros Occidental turned over P7.5 million worth of school supplies and equipment to Department of Education-Sagay City Division to highlight the launching of Project Lapis kag Papel Year 3 on Wednesday.
The local government allocated P4,012,257 worth of school supplies to 11,690 kinder to grade three students of Sagay, and P3.5-million worth of High-Speed Comcolor Printer Machine with Sorting and Stapling Features.
The P4-million budget came from the city’s General Appropriation Act (GAA) funds while the printer came from the funds of the Local School Board.
The GAA allocation also includes the donation of Knowledge Channel’s Portable Media Library to 53 elementary schools and all Secondary Junior High Schools, and radio cassettes to 2,135 students.
The high-speed printer machine aims to help the teachers in producing Self-Learning Modules (SLMs) for the Sagaynon students.
Project Lapis kag Papel was pursued this year as the city government saw the need to assist the young learners amid the pandemic, Mayor Alfredo Marañon said.
Marañon encouraged the parents to support their children especially in this new mode of education as the City Government will also do its best to provide the needs of the learners to improve their academic performance.
Meanwhile, the city government and Neg. Occ. 2nd District Rep. Leo Rafael Cueva also donated 1,800 umbrellas to the teaching and non-teaching personnel DepEd Sagay City Division.
These umbrellas aims to help the teachers in distributing SLMs.
