BACOLOD City – Nine persons, including a teenager and a minor, were arrested while a total of P625,600 worth of suspected shabu were seized in separate buy-bust operations here and in Negros Occidental over the weekend.
In Bacolod, a 30-year-old man was busted with 53 grams of suspected shabu worth P360,400 in Barangay Singcang-Airport last Saturday.
Captain Melvin Mercado, head of Police Station 8, identified the subject as Aldrin Remegio of Barangay Mambulac, Silay City.
Mercado said that Remegio is a high value individual, considering the volume of illegal drugs recovered from him.
Mercado said the suspect is an alleged drug courier tasked to deliver the contraband and collect proceeds from the illegal activity.
He said the suspect was subjected to a two-week monitoring after his name was reportedly mentioned by drug suspects, who were previously arrested.
On that same day, four persons, including a fish vendor, and a farmer were also apprehended in Barangay Aguisan, Himamaylan City with the confiscation of 30 grams of suspected shabu worth P204,000.
Arrested were Eddie Oliverio Jr., 22, of Cauayan town, a fish vendor; Richard Sanico, 41, of Moises Padilla town; Rolex Dela Cruz, 27, of Binalbagan town; and Felicisimo Laranio Jr., 33, of Pontevedra town, a farmer.
According to the police, Oliverio was subjected to a drug bust after his name floated in previous buy-bust operations, while his three companions were believed to be alleged runners in the illegal drug trade.
Police also recovered from them the P1,000 marked money, P660, and an improvised tooter.
Meanwhile, four other individuals, including a minor and a 19-year-old male student, were also arrested in Barangay Mambulac, Silay City last Friday.
Police seized from them nine grams of suspected shabu worth P61,200, and the P3,200 marked money.
