The suspect, identified as alias “Carl,” is a resident of Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City.
Police Major Sherwin Fernandez, Murcia town police chief, said authorities responded to a vehicular accident in the area around 6:05 p.m.
The suspect was riding a motorcycle when he reportedly veered into the opposite lane and collided with a car while approaching a curve. The car driver was unharmed.
However, police noticed the suspect panicking and searching for something on the road.
A pack of suspected shabu, weighing 500 grams, was found near the car’s bumper, prompting further investigation. Another 500 grams of suspected shabu was discovered in the suspect’s damaged sling bag.
Fernandez said the suspect claimed he was coming from San Carlos City and was en route home when the accident occurred.
Authorities are probing the source of the illegal drugs, allegedly obtained from San Carlos City, though this information is still being validated.
The suspect, who has no prior offenses based on the initial investigation, is now facing drug charges as well as charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property.
