BACOLOD City – An alleged street level drug peddler was arrested in a buy-bust operation at Barangay 1, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Friday, resulting in the confiscation of 80 grams of suspected shabu worth P544,000 and a loose firearm.
Joint operatives of Kabankalan City Police Station, along with the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB)-6, collared Francisco Ala-onio, 47, of the said village.
Police recovered from Ala-onio 21 sachets of suspected shabu, the P100 marked money, a .45 caliber pistol loaded with seven live ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and P850 cash.
Police Lieutenant Jomel Salarda, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the suspect was an alleged distributor of illegal drugs.
They placed him under surveillance for two weeks, Salarda added.
Meanwhile, a 16-year-old boy escaped from a drug bust at Barangay Old Poblacion, Escalante City last Saturday.
The suspect sensed that he was transacting with a police agent, prompting him to run towards the neighboring houses and mangrove trees, leaving the P1,000 marked money on the ground, police records indicated.
Also recovered during the operation was a sachet of suspected shabu worth P353.60.
