P500K Lost in Pontevedra Blaze

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – An estimated PHP500,000 worth of property was lost after four houses were damaged in a fire Tuesday afternoon, June 24, in Barangay Poblacion Ilawod, Pontevedra, Capiz.

According to the Pontevedra Fire Station, the houses of Anna Dy and Jadema Barogo were totally destroyed, while those of Felomino Burata and Rowel Barogo sustained partial damage.

Dy’s home incurred estimated damage of PHP195,000, while damage to Jadema’s house was pegged at PHP255,000.

Burata’s partially burned home sustained PHP31,500 in damage, and Rowel Barogo’s house, PHP15,000.

An arson investigator is looking into the cause of the fire.

Sound System Operator Electrocuted While Fixing Light

A sound system operator died after being accidentally electrocuted while fixing an electric light inside a dance hall Tuesday afternoon in Barangay Binuntucan, Pontevedra, Capiz.

Police identified the victim only by the alias “Kint,” of legal age and a resident of Barangay Balingasag, Cuartero, Capiz.

The Pontevedra Police said the victim climbed a steel post to fix the light but touched a live wire and fell.

It was reportedly raining at the time of the accident.

He was taken to Bailan District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Police are investigating the incident.

Three Wanted for Direct Assault Arrested

Three suspects facing direct assault charges were arrested Tuesday afternoon in Poblacion, Dumalag, Capiz.

Police withheld the names of the suspects, who are employed by a private company.

They were arrested for violating Section 13 of Republic Act 10951 or direct assault.

The court recommended bail of PHP36,000 each for their temporary release.

The suspects are now under the custody of Dumalag Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.
