P5.8M worth of shabu seized in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – Police seized an estimated P5,848,000 worth of suspected shabu from three individuals in separate buy-bust operations here in less than 24 hours.

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported its biggest drug haul for the month in Barangay Singcang-Airport on Wednesday night, confiscating 775 grams of suspected shabu worth P5,134,000.

Police Major Eugene Tolentino, head of Police Station 8, stated that it took years to monitor the 41-year-old suspect, a native of Olongapo, Zambales, who has settled in Bacolod with his family.

Tolentino said that their monitoring confirmed the suspect’s alleged involvement in illegal activities, along with his 49-year-old friend, a resident of Murcia, Negros Occidental.

The older suspect is considered a high-value individual, while the younger suspect is classified as a street-level individual, according to the police.

Tolentino mentioned that the recovered illegal drugs were reportedly sourced from outside the province and distributed in various areas within and outside Bacolod.

He believes the two may have connections with a drug group, considering the volume of drugs recovered, and their possible links are still under investigation.

The younger suspect had been previously arrested for a drug offense.

Police also recovered P3,000 in marked money and P2,684 in cash from the suspects.

The following day, operatives of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) Special Operations Unit-6 apprehended a 30-year-old man in Barangay Tangub.

Police seized 108 grams of suspected shabu worth P714,000 and P1,000 in marked money from the suspect.
