Based on a report of the local government posted on social media, the beneficiaries received P3,000 each for the first semester covering January to June this year. This is part of the DSWD’s social pension program.
The DSWD-6 facilitated the distribution of the cash aid in coordination with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Tomas Lumanog, social welfare assistant of DSWD-6, said that series of validations were conducted before the payout.
Beneficiaries who failed to claim their cash assistance will be replaced by other senior citizens who are on the barangay’s waiting list, according to Lumanog.
He said that most of the beneficiaries who failed to get their cash assistance might have transferred to another place or residence.
