P495K ‘hot lumber’ seized in Tapaz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Approximately P495,275 worth of mahogany lumber was seized by police Saturday evening in Bangga Jimenez, Barangay Taft, Tapaz, Capiz.
The police identified the truck driver as “Dodoy” of Poblacion, Lambunao, Iloilo.
The driver failed to present proper documents when questioned by the Tapaz Municipal Police Station. The seized lumber was estimated to be 12,381.8 board feet.
The lumber was placed under the custody of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Mambusao, Capiz for proper disposition.
Meanwhile, the Sigma Municipal Police Station apprehended a closed van truck loaded with various sizes of lumber Monday morning, June 17, in Barangay Bangon-bangon, Sigma, Capiz.
The lumber and the truck were placed under the custody of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) in Sigma for proper disposition.
