BACOLOD City – The city government will have a new tourist destination here with the development of a P47-million tree park in Barangay Alangilan.
Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez visited the site for the proposed Bacolod Tree and Eco Park last Sunday. It is a recreational area for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
City Engineer Loben Raphael Ceballos said this project is part of the P4.4 billion loan of the local government with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
Ceballos said the project will be developed in an 8.9-hectare city-owned property.
The amenities include a pavilion, a camping area, a picnic area, an airsoft area, and a biking area, the perimeter fence will also be equipped with solar lights.
Ceballos said they are preparing the specifications and documents for the bidding. “This is one of the projects being fast-tracked,” he added.
Ceballos said that they are expecting the tree park to be operational in six months.
He said they ensured that the tree park has less pavement and concrete work, and will be more on gravel. “Nature gid. Bugnaw. If you’re going there, makapahuway ka gid, ideal for family bonding since within the city lang,” he added.
He said the park will be income-generating for the city because of various activities.
He also said that the park will use solar power as an alternative to the power supply. It is situated beside the Alangilan National High School.
