P36.2 million in money claims awarded to 1,701 WV workers

In its pursuit to assist workers for a faster and less expensive settlement of labor issues, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-6 facilitated the release of Php36,279,263.84 money claims for 1,701 workers from January to July 2022.

The money claims were the result of settlement of 745 Requests for Assistance (RFAs) out of the 979 RFAs handled for the first semester of this year.

The requests were facilitated under the Single Entry Approach or SEnA, an administrative approach to provide a speedy, impartial, inexpensive, and accessible settlement procedure of all labor issues or conflicts to prevent them from ripening into full-blown disputes or actual labor cases.

Most of the request filed were on claims for 13^th month pay, separation pay, last salary pay, delay in payment of salaries, non-compliance for minimum wages, holiday pay, illegal dismissal, constructive dismissal, sick leave and non-payment of the cost of living allowance or COLA.

Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez Jr. urged desk assistance officers to speed up the resolution of request for the benefit of the affected workers.

“You must have a heart for the workers seeking for assistance. Pera naman nila ‘yun at kailangan maibigay sa kanila sa lalong madaling panahon,” Rodriguez said.
