Bacolod City – Rep. Genaro Alvarez (6th district, Neg.Occ) said P25 million worth of assistance was distributed to qualified beneficiaries in Kabankalan City, Sipalay City, Cauayan, Ilog, Candoni and Hinobaan early this month.
Alvarez said his office got a P10-million assistance after House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco assumed office.
The solon said he coursed the distribution of the P10 million through the Department of Social Welfare and Development in the district.
The assistance covered hospital needs, medicines, among others.
On the other hand, Alvarez also said that another P15 million was distributed through the Commission on Higher Education for educational scholars in his district.
He stressed that the financial assistance facilitated by his office was distributed by the said government offices and not his staff.
Meanwhile, Alvarez also announced that he will not seek re-election in 2022; instead, his daughter Mercedes Alvarez will run for his post.
