BACOLOD CITY – An estimated P2.575 million worth of suspected illegal drugs were seized in separate buy-bust operations in Negros island from Aug 24 to 26, 2019.
In Negros Oriental, more or less 300 grams of suspected shabu worth P2,040,000 was seized at Barangay Cadawinonan, Dumaguete City Monday night.
The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Jerick Calugcugan, the subject of the drug bust conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Oriental in coordination with the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit and Dumaguete City Police Station at around 11 p.m.
Calugcugan is a high value target in the provincial level, police records indicated. Authorities also confiscated from him the P1,000 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.
Calugcugan will be charged for violation of Sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), 11 (illegal possession of dangerous drugs), and 12 (illegal possession of drug paraphernalia) of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, police here seized about P429,500 worth of suspected shabu.
It includes the operation of PDEA-Regions 6 and 7 in coordination with the local police which led to the confiscation of P374,000 worth of suspected shabu in a drug bust at Barangay 10 here last Monday.
PDEA identified the subject as Carlo Dano Boncalon who allegedly yielded 55 grams of suspected shabu.
In Negros Occidental, buy-bust operations were also conducted over the weekend in the cities of Victorias and Kabankalan, and the town of Manapla, which resulted in the recovery of P106,000 worth of the same contraband.
