P16.6-M worth of drugs seized in NegOcc

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here confiscated P16,673,536.456 worth of illegal drugs from January to December 2019.
Authorities seized 1651.1704 grams of shabu valued at P16,511,704 and 1348.6038 grams of marijuana worth P161,832.456 in the province last year, Nocppo records indicated.
Nocppo conducted 629 anti-illegal drug operations which resulted in the arrest of 852 persons. Also, 1,666 cases were filed in court.
The amount of the drug recovered last year is lower compared to the seizure in 2018 amounting to about P87 million after police recovered P72 million worth of shabu in San Carlos City in August of that year.
But arrested individuals last year increased by 200 compared to 652 arrested persons in 2018.
Police Colonel Romeo Baleros, Nocppo director, said that they are targeting much bigger drug recovery this year, as he vowed to go after more drug personalities to stop the demand for illegal drugs in the province.
