The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) seized nearly PHP14 million worth of illegal drugs during its one-month anti-narcotics operation.
From July 1 to 31, various ICPO units conducted 72 operations that led to the arrest of 87 suspects.
Thirty of those arrested were classified as high-value individuals, while 56 were street-level individuals and one had an existing warrant of arrest.
Authorities confiscated around 2.43 kilos of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PHP13,895,673 and about 19 grams of marijuana worth PHP2,355.
The ICPO City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) recorded the highest number of arrests with 18 suspects.
It also logged the largest volume of confiscated drugs at 796 grams valued at PHP5.414 million.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Police Station 10 seized PHP2.782 million worth of shabu; ICPS7, PHP1.172 million; and ICPS2, PHP1.150 million.
Colonel Kim Legada, Iloilo City police chief, commended all operating units and cited community stakeholders for their continued partnership in the fight against illegal drugs.
“Through unity and cooperation, we continue to achieve success month after month in our relentless campaign against illegal drugs that threaten the safety and well-being of our communities,” he said.
Legada said the arrests should also serve as a warning to those involved in the illegal drug trade.
“They have no safe haven in this city. We will find you,” he said, adding that ICPO remains fully committed to providing quality police service and ensuring a safe and peaceful environment for all Ilonggos.
