ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that P1.8 million worth of properties were lost to a fire that hit Brgy. Culasi here Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Fire Inspector Rowel Limjuco, Roxas City fire marshal, said the 13 houses were turned to ashes while 2 others were partially damaged.
The fire displaced 20 families including that of Gregorio Anisco, Josephine Hauguisan, Joy Mendoza, Lilibeth Loresto, Connie Anisco Albarda, Shirley Oropio, Francisco Medina, Susie Montemayor, An-an Anisco, Melda Buhat, Brinton Buhat and Nida Mendoza.
The families were temporarily placed at the barangay hall, civic center, and Culasi Elementary School.
The fire easily spread because the houses were mostly made of light and mixed materials.
The fire occurred about 2pm and was declared fire out about 3:18pm.
Fire trucks from the Roxas City Fire Station, Capiz Citizen Action Group (CACAG) and Ferocity were first to respond to the scene.
Firefighters from the towns of Panay, Panit-an, Pontevedra, Ivisan, Sigma and Dao arrived later.
