A former inmate was recaptured in a late-night drug operation on April 24 in the district of Lapuz, Iloilo City.
Alias Joey, 39, was arrested at his residence in Zone 2, Barangay Obrero, Lapuz. The operation, conducted by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU-6) and Iloilo City Police Station 2 personnel, resulted in his apprehension after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu worth P15,000.
During the raid, officers reportedly found 12 sachets and two larger transparent bags containing suspected shabu, P700 in cash, a mobile phone, and various other items at Joey’s home. The seized substances are estimated to weigh about 175 grams, with a street value of P1,190,000.
Joey confessed to drug use but denied allegations of selling the substance. Records show that he was previously arrested for a drug-related offense in 2021 and released after two years.
Currently in custody, Joey faces charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, Republic Act 9165.
