Over 1,100 officers deployed for Panaad sa Negros Festival

BACOLOD CITY — A contingent of 1,102 security forces was deployed to oversee the Panaad sa Negros Festival, which will take place from April 15 to 21.

The send-off ceremony for the officers, held last Saturday at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) headquarters in Barangay Estefania, was led by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Police Colonel Rainerio de Chavez, the office’s acting director.

These forces are tasked with managing traffic, controlling crowds, and ensuring the safety of the events at the festival. Pastor Celino Villarete provided blessings for the troops and their equipment.

Governor Lacson, in his remarks, reflected on the festival’s return following a three-year pause, emphasizing its deep resonance with the people of Negros.

“The success of last year’s festival, after a three-year hiatus, shows the special place it holds in every Negrense’s heart,” he noted.

Looking ahead to the festivities, Lacson said, “We have planned more activities for a larger celebration and anticipate a significant influx of people,” expecting thousands of residents and visitors to join the revelry.

Beyond local government pavilions serving as attractions in Panaad Park, Lacson highlighted planned concerts and major contests expected to draw large crowds.

He emphasized his desire for festival-goers to feel secure, stating, “We want them not only to be safe but to feel safe as well, enabling them to fully enjoy what the provincial government has prepared.”

The governor underscored the vital role of law enforcement in maintaining order and safety during the festival and expressed his gratitude for their efforts, especially given the challenges posed by El Niño conditions. “I understand how taxing your job can be, and for this, I am truly grateful to all of you,” Lacson remarked.

In appreciation of their commitment, Lacson thanked the security personnel for their steadfast support.

The province will also implement a gun ban throughout the festival’s duration to further ensure public safety.
