The administration of Oton National High School has vowed to conduct a fair and impartial investigation into allegations that one of its teachers molested a student.
In an official statement, the school said it is taking “with utmost seriousness” the issue involving one of its personnel and emphasized that legal and administrative actions are already underway.
“The recent issue involving one of our personnel that has come to light is being addressed through the proper legal and administrative processes, and we trust that the investigation will be conducted thoroughly, fairly, and without bias,” the school said on Oct. 21.
The statement also condemned all forms of abuse and misconduct, saying such acts “have no place in our institution or in any environment where young people learn and grow.”
Oton NHS reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its learners, stressing that the campus “continues to be a safe, nurturing, and principled community for all.”
Oton Municipal Police Station Deputy Chief Police Capt. Lonelyn Talamillo confirmed in an interview with DYRI RMN Iloilo that two minor students filed complaints before the station’s Women and Children Protection Desk, accusing a teacher of molesting them.
Talamillo clarified that the two incidents were separate but involved the same suspect.
Meanwhile, the Schools Division Office of Iloilo said it is still gathering facts on the case before releasing an official comment or statement.
“We are currently checking on all issues raised,” Leonil Salvilla, SDO Iloilo spokesperson, told Daily Guardian on Thursday.
