BACOLOD City – Only 52 out of the 112 Closed-Circuit Televisions (CCTVs) installed by the city government at various points are operational.
Out of 52 though, only 9 are capable of 360-degree coverage, according to a City Hall report.
City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) Executive Assistant I Aaron Bais on Wednesday said the city government continues to improve and fix the CCTVs.
These CCTVs are installed at Burgos Street-Ferero, Ferero-Rizal Street, St.Paul tower-Rizal Street, Alijis (Bacolod Memorial Park), Araneta Street (Golden field), Lopues East, Lacson Street-North Capitol Road, St. Francis Ave. and Circumferential road-NGC exit.
Bais also said that after deploying three technicians to check the CCTVs that are installed around the city, defective CCTVs lack some spare parts.
He added that problems such as low internet signal, inability to transmit signal because of low radio antenna, Network Video Recorder (NVR) deterioration, and the need for proper maintenance were discovered.
Moreover, the CCTV monitoring is also affected by frequent low voltage.
Bais assured that they will continue to troubleshoot and find ways to fix and restore the CCTVs to strengthen the traffic surveillance in the city.
