Only 300 of the 2,200 applicants will be accepted into the Philippine National Police (PNP) Attrition Recruitment Program in Western Visayas, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
This means just 13.61 percent of aspirants will secure a spot, underscoring the highly competitive nature of the selection process.
The Attrition Recruitment Program is designed to fill vacancies left by personnel who retired, resigned, were dismissed, or died, helping the PNP maintain operational strength and efficiency.
Brigadier Gen. Josefino Ligan, PRO-6 director, said the surge in applicants reflects strong public trust and the continued interest of the youth in law enforcement careers.
“This only shows that many young Filipinos still view police service as a noble and honorable profession,” Ligan said.
“We commend their enthusiasm and commitment to public service,” he added.
Applicants must pass a rigorous screening that includes physical agility tests, neuro-psychiatric evaluations, medical and dental assessments, drug testing, and background investigations.
Ligan assured the public that PRO-6 will uphold transparency, integrity, and fairness throughout the recruitment process.
“We assure the public that the recruitment process is merit-based and transparent,” he said.
“Only those who meet the standards and demonstrate the right character, capability, and commitment to serve will be accepted,” he added.
The 300 recruits will reinforce police presence in communities across Western Visayas and support efforts to ensure peace, order, and public safety.
