One of the Baes makes waves, tops PH trends on pilot episode

Netizens were all aboard, loving the millennial fairytale of Jowalyn Biglangdapa and Grant Altamirano as the pilot episode of One of the Baes topped the trending topics in the Philippines last September 30.

Top-billed by one of today’s hottest love teams—RitKen or Ken Chan and Rita Daniela—the latest GMA Network primetime series made waves on its first night, dominating Twitter with the hashtag #OneOfTheBaesPilot.

RitKen ‘shippers’ took to social media to share their happiness over the primetime debut of their favorite on-screen couple.

One netizen, @_joshrey, commented: “I have to say this @akosiKenChan & #RitaDaniela have ONE OF THE BEST CHEMISTRY SA BUONG PILIPINAS hehe I just watched #OneOfTheBaesPilot and I was screaming to the tv like the fanboy that I am and I have to say, the teleserye is kilig to the bones! Can’t wait for more♥️ #RitKen.”

A RitKen supporter, @ritasken, said: “gandang pilot episode. kaabang-abang ang mga susunod na ganap. the crown princess idea is so fascinating. grabe. congrats to the cast, crew, and whole team of ootb! talagang ginalingan!  @akosiKenChan @missritadaniela.”

Another viewer, @morisss_, tweeted: “Mahal na Mahal ko kayo! Khit pagod at inaantok na ako ng sobra dahil sa work Pinipilit ko manood pero dahil sa Ganda NAGISING AKO KAKATAWA  @akosiKenChan @missritadanieIa #OneOfTheBaesPilot.”

@super_ian_boy remarked: “It is way better to watch light but great romantic comedy story than watching bitterness ’til death.”

Netizens also praised the program’s witty play on words.

“Ung alkansya ni Jowa ang unique ng name e “ATM”, ang taba ng utak ng writer! #OneOfTheBaesPilot,” said @_itssmeangge.

@iLRe_arthur agreed. “Even the name of the boarding house cool, #OneOfTheBaesPilot,”.

Returning-Kapuso actor Roderick Paulate also caught the attention of netizens. The veteran star, who in the series plays Rita’s father Paps Fernando, landed on the top 20 trends on Twitter Philippines.

Twitter user @Anthony82512253 shared: “#OneOfTheBaesPilot The father-daughter tandem of Paps and Jowa is wonderful to see @missritadanieIa and @D_RealRoderick blended well in comedy!”

Ken and Rita took to social media as well to show their gratitude over the viewers’ overwhelming support on their pilot episode. “Maraming-maraming salamat po sa lahat ng nanood at nakitrending sa ONE OF THE BAES! Samahan niyo po ulit kami bukas,” Ken tweeted, showing his and Rita’s video greet right after the first episode’s pilot airing.

One of the Baes is the latest series produced by GMA Public Affairs under the supervision of Senior AVP Neil Gumban, Program Managers Joni Mosatalla and Joseph Conrad Rubio. It is directed by King Marc Baco and Michael Christian Cardoz.
