ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 59-year-old woman died while three others were injured after a cargo truck sideswiped a passenger tricycle Wednesday afternoon at Brgy. San Fernando in Pilar, Capiz.
Shirley Vega of Barangay Binaobawan was declared dead on arrival at the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital here.
Ruthmar Villa, 47, the driver of the tricycle and resident of Barangay San Fernando; Bernard Sarad, 26, of Carles, Iloilo; and Ronald Nogoy, 22, of Barangay Dulangan, Pilar are confined in different hospitals here.
According to Police Corporal Herbert Dela Vega, investigator of Pilar Municipal Police Station, the truck driven by Jonel Dalisay, 39, of Balasan, Iloilo overtook a motorcycle until he sideswiped the passenger tricycle.
Vega was first taken to Bailan District Hospital in Pontevedra, but she was referred to RMPH because of her condition.
Dalisay is in the custody of Pilar police station.
The owner of the truck vowed to shoulder the hospital expenses of the victims including the burial of the deceased.
