BACOLOD City – A young man was killed while a family of five was wounded after a motorcycle collided with a tricycle at Purok Bougainvilla, Barangay Enclaro, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Police identified the fatality as Kent Allen Luhan, 21, of the said barangay.
Wounded were tricycle driver Reynato Ganancial, 45, with passengers – Helen Cabales, 58, and three minors aged 5, 8, and 12, of the said village.
Major Randy Babor, town police chief, said a motorcycle driven by Luhan was believed to be speeding when it overlapped on the lane of the tricycle that led to the collision.
Ganancial and his passengers were on their way home when the accident happened in a dimly lit portion of the road, according to Babor.
Babor said that Luhan was not wearing a helmet and police could not determine if he was under the influence of liquor.
The tricycle driver and his passengers suffered minor injuries and were later discharged from a hospital, while Luhan was declared dead in a hospital.
Babor said there was an initial settlement between both parties, thus, Ganancial was already released from police custody, he added.
