BACOLOD City – A man died while three others were injured after lightning struck them in a rice field at Barangay Odiong, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental Wednesday morning.
Killed was Saldy Marfil, 42. Also injured were his three other companions, whom police have yet to name.
Police Captain Hancel Lumandaz, town police chief, said Marfil and his companions were about to harvest crops when a heavy downpour occurred around 6:30 a.m.
They decided to go home but while they were walking, Marfil was directly hit by the lightning which caused his death.
Lumandaz said the three other victims sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
