One Dead, 10 Injured in Car-Jeep Crash in Iloilo

A 21-year-old student died after his car collided with a modernized jeepney early morning on July 6 in Oton, Iloilo.
The victim, identified as alias Amando, was a resident of Barangay Parara Norte, Tigbauan, Iloilo.
He was rushed to Western Visayas Medical Center in Iloilo City but was declared dead on arrival.
Reports said Amando was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan from Iloilo City to Tigbauan when the incident occurred.
While passing through Barangay San Antonio in Oton at around 5:44 a.m., he reportedly swerved into the opposite lane.
Jay, a 40-year-old driver of the modernized jeepney, said the collision was unavoidable.
Lt. Col. Abner Jordan, Oton police chief, said 10 of the 13 passengers aboard the jeep sustained minor injuries.
Police took Jay into custody for further investigation.
Investigators said Amando’s vehicle sustained major damage.
