ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 21-year-old man was arrested while his alleged cohort escaped from a drug buy bust operation Monday afternoon by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) in Barangay Banica, Roxas City.
Police Lieutenant John Mark Jambalos, assistant team leader of PDEU, identified the arrested suspect as Miguel Lara of Barangay Punta Tabuc, Roxas City.
Recovered from Lara was a sachet of suspected shabu and the P7,000 marked money.
Jambalos said Lara’s colleague, a certain John Alcher Acepcion, was the subject of the said operation but he managed to flee after detecting the police operative in their transaction.
Lara allegedly worked as Acepcion’s “runner.”
Meanwhile, Punta Tabuc Punong Barangay Nestor Buenviaje was surprised with Lara’s involvement in the illegal drug trade.
Lara is presently in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) were filed against him.
