ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The police suspect that an old grudge was the motive behind the killing of a 33-year-old farmer last Friday night in Brgy. Astorga, Dumarao, Capiz.
PMaj. Cristopher Candelario, the chief of Dumarao Municipal Police Station, stated that their investigation revealed that the father of Joeven Lomongo Morales had previously filed a physical injuries case against the suspected brothers: Henry Falco, 30; Herwin Falco, 35; and Gino Falco, 18, who are all residents of the area mentioned.
The brothers are suspected to have harbored beliefs that it was the victim who had instigated the filing of the case against them, which could be the motive for the attack.
Investigators discovered that the victim was the uncle of the suspects.
According to the police investigation, the suspects allegedly threw stones at the victim’s house.
When the victim stepped outside, he was attacked by Herwin and Gino Falco. It is reported that Herwin restrained the victim while Henry shot him twice before fleeing in an unknown direction.
A concerned citizen rushed the victim to the nearest hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
At the crime scene, police recovered two live rounds of ammunition for a .45 caliber weapon, one empty shell, a slug of the same caliber, and a fighting bolo.
The police announced that they would file appropriate charges on Monday, February 19, against the suspects, who remain at large as of press time.
