PANITAN, Capiz — An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) wanted for estafa was arrested Monday evening, Feb. 2, at the public plaza in this town.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Miss Rob,” 35, an OFW and resident of Barangay Balatucan, Panitan.
She was arrested by personnel of the Panitan Municipal Police Station after officers verified that she had an outstanding warrant of arrest.
The suspect is facing a charge of estafa through falsification of public documents, a crime involving fraud and the alleged use of falsified records to deceive another party.
The warrant was issued on Feb. 7, 2023, by Judge Bonifacia Carmen Chuchi Asis Ramos, presiding judge of the Municipal Circuit Trial Court Branch 3 in Roxas City.
The court recommended bail of PHP 36,000 for her temporary liberty.
Police said the suspect remains under the custody of the Panitan Philippine National Police after failing to post bail.
