Conducted in two batches (morning and afternoon sessions), the training was attended by a total of 58 participants, including food vendors, restaurant and carinderia owners and personnel, and food cart operators. It aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge, skills, and commitment to food safety practices. Key topics included proper facility layout and maintenance, personal hygiene, process control in food handling, and effective cleaning and sanitation to prevent contamination and ensure safe food handling.
The training highlighted that ensuring food safety is a shared responsibility that directly affects public health, particularly among children, older adults, and other vulnerable populations. Strengthening local food entrepreneurs’ knowledge and practices is critical to reducing foodborne risks and promoting safe food handling across the municipality.
