Nxled seeks rebound against depleted Capital1

Nxled seeks its first victory in the Premier Volleyball League On Tour when it faces a Capital1 squad missing three starting wing attackers Saturday at the Chavit Coliseum in Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
The Chameleons and Solar Spikers meet at 4 p.m. in a matchup between teams looking to establish early momentum in the six-week preseason tournament.
Capital1 will play without Bella Belen, Vanie Gandler, and Erika Santos, who are away on national team duty.
Their absence gives 2026 PVL Rookie Draft No. 2 overall pick Detdet Pepito an opportunity to make her anticipated professional debut for the Solar Spikers.
Pepito, a decorated collegiate standout, is expected to reinforce Capital1’s defensive rotation alongside Roma Mae Doromal and Rachel Jorvina.
Capital1 still has a deep middle rotation led by Cherry Nunag, Ezra Madrigal, KC Galdones, Pauline Gaston, and Pia Abbu.
The group gives the Solar Spikers balance and a strong net presence against an Nxled squad that also strengthened its frontline.
Capital1 will also introduce second-round selection Khy Cepada.
Cepada joins a wing rotation featuring Trisha Genesis, Ysa Jimenez, Leila Cruz, Sydney Niegos, and France Ronquillo.
Nxled will counter with former Cignal player Jackie Acuña, MJ Phillips, Krich Macaslang, Aduke Ogunsanya, and veteran Aby Maraño in the middle.
The Chameleons will lean on the explosive wing combination of Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, Jonah Escamillan, and Lyann De Guzman.
Chiara Permentilla and EJ Laure are also expected to provide additional firepower when called upon.
Nxled enters the match with greater urgency after suffering a four-set loss to Creamline in its opening assignment in Ilagan City on July 9.
The Chameleons are currently 0-1, while Capital1 has yet to play in the tournament.
PLDT begins its title defense against Choco Mucho in the 6:30 p.m. match.
The High Speed Hitters won last year’s On Tour competition before carrying that momentum into the PVL Invitational championship.
PLDT appears deeper and more experienced on paper, with Savi Davison, Kim Dy, Kath Arado, and Majoy Baron leading its roster.
No. 7 draft pick Fianne Ariola and free-agent signing Joan Monares further strengthen the defending champion’s lineup.
Both newcomers are expected to make an impact as PLDT seeks another strong preseason run.
A lengthy layoff could test the High Speed Hitters as they attempt to quickly regain their competitive rhythm.
Choco Mucho remains without national team players Sisi Rondina, Eya Laure, and Dawn Catindig.
Their absence places greater responsibility on No. 3 overall pick Tin Ubaldo, Isa Molde, Jewel Encarnacion, Kat Tolentino, Caitlin Viray, and Dindin Manabat.
The Flying Titans are seeking their first win after losing their opening match to ZUS Coffee.
The PVL On Tour Showdown will visit South Cotabato for the first time on Aug. 1.
Nxled will face Galeries Tower at 4 p.m. before Akari battles Choco Mucho at 6:30 p.m. in Polomolok.
ZUS Coffee leads the early standings after securing back-to-back victories over Akari and Choco Mucho.
Creamline and Galeries Tower are close behind with one victory each.
The Highrisers produced one of the tournament’s early surprises by defeating the Farm Fresh Foxies in four sets.
