Nurse shot dead by husband in Negros Oriental

BACOLOD CITY – A 36-year-old nurse from Pangasinan was found dead inside their car after being shot by her husband following an argument over an alleged affair in Bag-ong Taytayan, Barangay Tabuc-Tubig, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, early Friday, Sept. 6.

Police withheld the names of the victim and the suspect to protect the identities of their twin children.

Police Lieutenant Stephen Polinar, public information officer of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Norppo), said the victim and her 39-year-old husband, also a nurse, were involved in an altercation inside their car on the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 5.

Polinar said the couple was reportedly arguing about a “third party,” but it was unclear who among them was being accused of having an affair.

The argument escalated into violence when the husband allegedly shot his wife in the neck inside the vehicle, according to Polinar.

After the shooting, the suspect drove to a friend’s house with his wife’s body still in the front passenger seat.

When questioned about the bloodstains on his clothes, the suspect admitted the crime to his friend, Polinar added.

The friend then reported the incident to the police, leading to the suspect’s arrest and the discovery of the victim’s body. However, the firearm used in the crime was not recovered.

Polinar said authorities are reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to determine the timeline of events, including when the crime was committed and when the suspect arrived at his friend’s house.

The suspect has been arrested and will be charged with parricide, according to Polinar.

Police have already contacted the victim’s family in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
