BACOLOD City – An alleged member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in a clash with 94th Infantry Battalion (IB) at Sitio Bulasot, Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental yesterday.
This was based on the report of the 3rd Infantry Division (ID) released on their Facebook account late Wednesday afternoon. They did not name the alleged rebel.
According to Brigadier General Inocencio Pasaporte, the soldiers traded shots with at least 20 armed rebels around 9:30 a.m.
This, after the military troopers conducted a combat operation in the area following reports on the alleged presence and extortion activity of armed men in the adjacent barangay.
The encounter lasted for about 45 minutes, which resulted in the recovery of an M16 rifle.
No casualties were reported on the government side, according to Pasaporte.
