BACOLOD City – Another suspected member of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in a series of clashes with the military troopers in the towns of Binalbagan and Isabela in Negros Occidental yesterday.
1Lt. Raymart Africa, acting civil military operations officer of the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde), said they are asking the help of the rebel returnees to identify the fatality.
Africa said the first and second encounters happened in Barangay Camang-Camang, Isabela town between the NPA rebels and the 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB) while the soldiers were conducting joint military operations.
It was followed by another encounter, this time with the 94th IB in Barangay Santol, Binalbagan town where the NPA rebel died, according to Africa.
Africa said they are coordinating with the police for the conduct of the investigation and extraction of the remains from the area.
The recent encounter came two days after an alleged NPA leader was also killed in a clash with the 62nd IB in Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla town on April 18.
