ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A suspected notorious robber was arrested Tuesday noon, June 3, in Jamindan, Capiz, for possession of an unlicensed firearm and explosive.
Police Capt. Peter John D. Celino, chief of the Jamindan Municipal Police Station, led the operation at the residence of alias “Paka,” 36, in Barangay Lucero.
The arrest was made through a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 21 Judge Rommel L. Leonor in Mambusao, Capiz, on May 27, 2025, under warrant number SW-2025-53-05.
Recovered from the suspect’s home were an improvised 12-gauge shotgun, two live rounds of ammunition, a sling bag, and a hand grenade.
The suspect is now in the custody of the Jamindan police, and inquest charges will be filed for violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and illegal possession of explosives.
Police said several neighbors had previously complained of harassment involving the suspect brandishing a firearm, prompting authorities to seek a search warrant.
Records also showed that the suspect had multiple robbery complaints filed at the barangay hall but frequently evaded summons by staying in other locations, particularly in Iloilo.
It was by chance that the suspect was home on Tuesday when the search warrant was served.
The suspect was previously arrested and jailed for robbery but was released after authorities confirmed he was a minor at the time.
