Not a cause for alarm, police say on killings

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here said that the series of killings that happened last Tuesday should not be a cause for alarm.

Three bodies with gunshot wounds were found in this city and in Murcia town and Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo information officer, said the killings could be considered as “coincidence.”

“It so happened na sunod-sunod lang iyong nangyari in separate areas sa isang araw lang,” she added.

However, Donasco said they’re probing if these incidents could possibly be related, considering that three of them were found dead on the same day.

The victims were identified as Ahmed Haj, Archie Aguirre, and Bryan Barredo.

The body of Barredo was found by a sugarcane worker at Barangay 16, Talisay City late Tuesday afternoon. He was the third victim that was reported that day.

Barredo was last seen by his family on Monday night when he left their house without asking permission, according to Police Staff Master Sergeant Reginaldo Suelto, chief investigator of Talisay City Police Station.

Police have earlier said that the victims were killed somewhere and were then dumped in different places.

Until now, they still have no lead yet on the motive and perpetrators of these incidents.

Donasco said they have not monitored any group that could be linked to these incidents.

She assured that there’s nothing to worry because Nocppo and the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) are coordinating to investigate these cases.

“Full force naman po kami at hindi po ito pinapabayaan,” she said.
