The coronation is complete.
Czech ace Linda Noskova has finally joined the elite list of Grand Slam queens in the Open Era.
On July 11, 2026, Noskova won her first Wimbledon singles final, defeating fellow Czech netter Karolina Muchova, 6-2, 5-7, 6-3, to claim the golden trophy on Centre Court at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
Fresh off a one-sided victory over Marta Kostyuk to advance to her maiden Grand Slam final, Noskova’s precise baseline power and consistent service game made it difficult for Muchova to establish any rhythm in the championship match.
While both Czechs entered the Wimbledon final as first-timers, it was Noskova who shrugged off the early jitters more quickly, settling into the match midway through the opening set.
With a chance to take a 3-1 lead, Noskova fired a booming backhand winner to complete the momentum-boosting break, leaving Muchova behind before closing out the first set with a 3-1 run.
It was in the second set that the final became a dogfight after Muchova staged a comeback for the ages, saving three championship points to stay within striking distance.
Trailing 2-5, Muchova was already dead in the water, needing three straight games to level the set at 5-all.
However, Muchova’s experience and never-say-die attitude rose to the occasion as she shocked Noskova with a series of breaks and unorthodox baseline return winners to complete the come-from-behind stunner.
The jaw-dropping 5-0 run rattled Noskova, who failed to hold serve during the final stretch of the second set and committed a string of unforced forehand errors.
In the ninth game of the set, Noskova committed an untimely double fault, allowing Muchova to secure a crucial break en route to a demoralizing comeback win and a 1-all deadlock.
Instead of sitting back and letting Muchova dictate the pace, Noskova went back to square one and achieved the ultimate reset in the championship match.
Noskova’s poise under pressure helped her lock in from the get-go as she raced to a 3-0 lead. To complete the recovery, the 21-year-old star added more depth and flatter groundstrokes to her game, pinning Muchova behind the baseline for most of the third set.
As in the opening set, Muchova failed to reignite her fire and could only watch Noskova pummel a barrage of wide forehand winners, backed by a tactical shift in her serves from flat deliveries to a sidespin-oriented approach.
Noskova wrapped up the final with a service hold, closing it out with a flawless ace to complete the historic win.
“It is definitely something that I’m going to remember forever,” Noskova said after the win.
“On the last match point, I didn’t even realize that I had a match point. I kept going. That’s what really won it for me, that I didn’t exactly put it into my head.”
