BACOLOD CITY – The Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) is mourning the death of a 38-year-old lineman who was fatally electrocuted while on duty in Barangay Lo-ok, Calatrava, Negros Occidental, on Friday.
In a statement issued Saturday, Noneco confirmed the passing of its employee, Jovi Bulfa, a resident of Barangay Bantayanon in Calatrava.
“Thank you, Jovi, for your unwavering courage, your selfless service, and the light you brought into the lives of others,” the power firm said.
According to police, Bulfa was performing maintenance work Friday morning when he accidentally came into contact with a secondary electrical line and was electrocuted.
His companion immediately assisted him, and with the help of the Calatrava Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, rushed him to a hospital.
Bulfa was declared dead shortly after arrival.
On the same day, Noneco released a Facebook advisory about an unscheduled power outage affecting areas covered by the Calatrava–Escalante 69kV transmission line.
The outage, which began at 11:10 a.m., disrupted power in the municipalities of Calatrava and San Carlos City, as well as parts of Barangay Luna in Toboso.
Noneco linemen were deployed to replace a damaged insulator and worked to restore electricity safely and efficiently.
Power was fully restored by 4:19 p.m.
Noneco extended its deepest condolences and prayers to Bulfa’s family and loved ones.
“Your compassion and dedication will never be forgotten,” the firm said.
“You will always be remembered and honored. May you rest in eternal peace.”
