PONTEVEDRA, Capiz – Police here seized 17 open motorcycle mufflers as part of the campaign against illegal and noisy “tambutso.”
The series of confiscations are in line with the continuous implementation of Municipal Ordinance No. 91 (The Revised Municipal Traffic and Transport Ordinance) and the Enhanced Managing Police Operation Program of the PNP.
This is also in response to the complaints of barangays, especially those along the national highway against open mufflers which produces unnecessary noise and creates noise pollution, particularly at night.
Police Major Christopher Candelario, Pontevedra police chief, appealed to the public to report owners of motorcycles with “open mufflers” and motor shops that illegally modify motorcycle parts, specifically mufflers and other parts that can endanger the lives of drivers.
The confiscated mufflers are set to be destroyed by the local government.
