BACOLOD City – Police Colonel Romy Palgue, officer-in-charge of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) has directed all police chiefs to provide face masks and hygiene kits to less privileged individuals in their respective areas to help them prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
This was revealed on Thursday by Police Major Edison Garcia, Nocppo’s public information officer.
Garcia said that Palgue issued the instructions during their command conference at the Nocppo headquarters here on Monday.
Police will also tap local government units for the realization of the project, he added.
Garcia said that Palgue’s initiative will also help them bring the police closer to the people.
The initiative aims to help individuals avoid being caught for violating COVID-19 health protocols like wearing of face masks.
But he cautioned that they will be strict on persons who intentionally flout the rules.
