BACOLOD City – The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 recognized the efforts of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU)-6 for a series of drug busts that resulted in the recovery of about 1,304 grams of suspected shabu worth P8,868,447.
The biggest drug haul was reported in Barangay Guinhalaran, Silay City on July 22, wherein two alleged female peddlers from Quezon City yielded P7.1 million worth of suspected shabu in a drug bust operation conducted by joint operatives of RPDEU-6 and Silay City Police Station, based on a report from PRO-6.
According to Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, PRO-6 director, 24 anti-illegal drug operations were conducted in the province from July 17 to 24.
From these operations, 34 individuals were arrested. Four of which were from Silay City, three each in the cities of Cadiz, Kabankalan, and San Carlos, two each in the cities of Bago, La Carlota, and Sagay, and one each in the cities of Escalante, Himamaylan, Talisay, and Victorias.
Four others were also apprehended in the town of Ilog, and one each in the towns of Calatrava, Cauayan, E.B. Magalona, Hiboba-an, Manapla, and Murcia.
The Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) also arrested one in La Carlota City, with the recovery of P380,800 worth of suspected shabu.
Dongbo commended the leadership of Nocppo and RPDEU-6 for the intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
“May our recent arrests against drug peddlers serve as a stern warning to the remaining individuals who still engage in the illegal trade to better stop, otherwise they will end up in jail,” Dongbo said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized P590,920 worth of suspected shabu from six persons here from July 19 to 23.
The biggest drug haul here was reported in Barangay 2 on July 23, after the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) confiscated P387,600 worth of the said contraband from a male teenager.
Other buy-bust operations were also conducted in Barangays Banago, 1, Vista Alegre, Taculing, and Sum-ag.
