BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here is prepared to deploy police nurses to augment medical frontliners, following the recent increase in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the province.
Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s information officer, said they are just waiting for the order from the higher headquarters in case there’s a need for augmentation.
Donasco said these police nurses were all accounted and will be notified if the situation calls for it.
Donasco said the number of augmentation personnel will depend upon the order of the regional headquarters.
The provincial police office has 48 police nurses assigned at the headquarters and various police stations.
In fact, Donasco said that these police nurses were previously deployed for augmentation during the height of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, Donasco said that Nocppo has 16 active cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 232 cases.
She also said that only 77 out of 2,245 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of Nocppo are still unvaccinated.
Of this number, 58 have comorbidities, while 18 others are just waiting for their vaccination schedule.
