BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here will be on full alert starting Oct 31, 2020 in preparation for the observance of All Souls’ Day next month.
Lieutenant Wilma Silva, Nocppo’s deputy public information officer, said yesterday that cops in police stations were already advised to deploy personnel in cemeteries in their respective areas from Oct 31 to Nov 4.
People are prohibited by the national government to visit cemeteries nationwide from Oct 29 to Nov 4 to prevent the movement of people amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
“We discouraged them to go out because they will never be allowed to enter the cemeteries during these dates,” Silva said.
Silva said they also have a reserved team at the headquarters in case there’s a need for more deployment.
After November 4, Silva said they are anticipating an increased volume of people in cemeteries, thus they will continue to put police assistance desks to control the movement of people.
This is also to ensure that bladed weapons and other contrabands will be prevented from entering the said venues, she added.
