BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here is preparing some personnel who will be trained to use body-worn cameras in police operations.
Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo deputy information officer, said they are waiting for the additional body cameras intended for all municipal police stations in the province.
At present, Nocppo has 192 body cameras that were already provided to all 12 city police stations. Each police station received 16 body cameras.
“Sobrang konti pa lang iyong may alam how to utilize the body camera system kaya need na makapag training talaga,” Donasco said.
She said they will wait for the supply from the national headquarters, as well as the directive to train more personnel to handle such equipment.
According to the police, body cameras can help them show to the public the legitimacy of any police operation.
