Nocppo alarmed by dumping of babies

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here condemned the recent dumping of babies in various areas in the province.

Police Captain Judesses Catalago, public information officer of Nocppo, said they are saddened by these incidents as they value human life, especially children.

“Gakasubo kita kay ang kabuhi daw wala na bala highest consideration, in such a way na daw gahaboy na lang tissue,” Catalago said.

The first incident was reported on May 5, wherein a newborn baby boy was found in a sugarcane field in Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City.

On that same day, a lifeless newborn baby girl was found in a garbage dumpsite in Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City.

The following day, a decomposing body of an infant was found under a bridge at Hacienda Malisbog 2, Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City.

Although they considered these cases isolated, Catalogo noted that it is alarming since the persons responsible for these incidents do not value life.

“Gina kondenar ta ina na action,” he said.

Catalogo believed that the parents of these infants did not want to face their responsibilities, leading them to leave their babies behind.

He said that in case the police could identify the persons responsible for these incidents, they will file appropriate charges against them.

Meanwhile, Catalogo said that the newborn baby boy in Sagay City is now under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

He learned that a family is willing to adopt the baby.
